What is Magtein Magnesium L Threonate?

Magnesium is an essential cofactor for more than 300 enzymes involved in biosynthesis processes and energy metabolism. It plays an important role in many of the brain's functions. Only recently, a unique compound called Magtein was discovered by a group of scientists from MIT, including a Nobel Prize laureate.

Magnesium has been implicated in many of the brain functions. However, most magnesium compounds have low brain bioavailability and severe gastrointestinal side effects. Magtein is the only magnesium compound that has been shown to effectively raise the brain's magnesium levels, which leads to enhanced learning abilities, improved working memory, and better short- and long-term memory in both young and aged animals.*

Magnesium L Threonate Benefits and Uses

Various studies have shown that Magnesium plays an important role in regulating memory formation, mood and protecting the brain from various stressors. However, various other studies have also shown that Magnesium supplements, especially forms such as Magnesium Oxide, have a fairly hard time elevating brain levels of Magnesium to statistically significant levels, which is why Magnesium L-Threonate is currently the only form of Magnesium that will produce significant effects on overall cognition.

When Magnesium reaches the brain, it mainly interacts with the NMDA receptors, which play a key role in the formation of memories. The NMDA receptor contains a specialized site within the receptor to which Magnesium can bind. When Magnesium binds to this site, it blocks the receptor, which prevents the receptor from activating. This protects the brain from the negative effects of overactivation of the NMDA receptor. NMDA receptor activation, however, is also vital for the formation of memories and this is where Magnesium has a very unique effect. It increases the amount of NMDA receptors in the brain, whilst blocking background activation, which means that when the NMDA receptors get activated during memory formation, there will be a much stronger NMDA receptor response, leading to deeper and faster encoding of memories.

    Hi! I first want to say i love this company and their products are always great quality. Their Magtein is an excellent product. I take it an hour before sleep and it honestly seems to help with the quality of sleep i get. I also dont wake up with leg cramps in the morning which this particular product is not really intended for that use as Magnesium glycinate usually is recommended for that purpose, but this ones working for that just fine. I wish i could comment on the mental effects that its known for, but i started taking it just before the month of Ramadhan fast started so my only experience has been taking it while doing extended dry fasts of up to 24 hours depending on the last time i ate, so most days im tired and out of it due to the fast however, Im sure i will notice the brainy effects as soon as the month of fasting is over as these guys have only quality products that have always delivered. I will update if i remember. Cheers

    Great for sleep, even if a little groggy in the morning

    3 months into using this and here's what I've noticed so far: I've noticed my brain fog moments aren't as intense while taking this. It definitely helps me sleep really well when I take the evening dose, but I notice I'm a little more groggy than normal in the morning.

    I definitely notice a positive change in having a clear head and reduced muscle spasms. This is a daily supplement I take. I will say I started with 1/2 dose in before bed and worked up.

    Great, high quality Magnesium L-Threonate Powder. Interesting, soft metallic, mineral taste. Not at all bad but definitely interesting. If you're looking for a good and cheap mag l-threonate then this is the stuff. Just stick to the recommended dosage.

    Very good, but could be great

    As a product it works and is great , but for the life of me i can’t figure out why for $60 they DO NOT INCLUDE a scooper inside the container. How is one supposed to measure out a gram of powder without the proper scoop. PLEASE FIX THIS AND INCLUDE A PROPER SCOOP!!!!     Magnesium l threonate powder

    This is a very strong supplement and should be treated as one after taking it for a few weeks I believe I actually took to much one not and had very unpleasant side effects to the point of almost going to the emergency room. There is a considerable difference in mental clarity and calmness but I wouldn’t use this magneisum before bed as it makes you more focused than actually sleepy also I would not exceed the recommended amount and would not take other magneisum with this form . So all in all the magnesium is definitely good and you will notice a difference but beware it is possibly to overdose on this stuff and have some bad experiences

    Amazing for calm, clean focus on 1 gram taken in morning lasts for several hours. Ive had zero side effects, aside from if you take 2 grams during the day you’ll be extremely tired and want a nap. Taken at night pairs well with my sleep stack (Magnesium Glycinate, Lemon Balm, L-Theanine, Sensoril ashwaghanda, Phosphatidylserine, Magnolia Bark, Uridine, Zinc, Tart Cherry…I specifically started taking Magtein in hopes of taming my impulsiveness (recovered drug addict but have problems with urges to binge drink, gamble, waste money on dumb sh*+ and eat unhealthy). 1 month in its helping alot to stay focused and not have impulsive urges. Ive found NAC to really help with that and just started Reduced Glutathione as well for the same reasons.

    Expensive but efficient

    I get severe hand cramping and need a minimum of 300 to 400 chelated magnesium malate to keep my hand from locking up which is more elemental magnesium than the 2000mg of suggested magtein (145mg) i think the absorbation is incredibly efficient.

    Great for sleep, tolerance, and cognition

    I use 2g when wanting to sleep and it helps effectively! Finally able to find a sleep aid that's good for me. Seems to work at anytime as well. I read it's also good for cognition, but that may just be placebo. Taste isn't bad, and I would recommend the 180g jar if you find the amount I take efficient as well. Only downside is it can be a pricey pick for magnesium.
